Make your way to the centrally located meeting point, hop aboard a classic wooden saloon boat, and settle in for a relaxing journey through Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed canals. Your cruise begins by gliding along the Prisnegracht, past landmarks such as the Anne Frank House (Anne Frank Huis), before continuing down the Bloemgracht, Amstel, Herengracht, Singel, and Keizersgracht. Take in sights along the way of key attractions such as as De 9 Straatjes, Rijksmuseum, Skinny Bridge (Magere Brug), and Bloemenmarkt. Your guide points out each landmark, and fills you in on its history, as you cruise and enjoy nibbling on the included cheese platter and sipping unlimited beer, wine, and soft drinks. After soaking up Amsterdam from the water, end back at the starting point, ready to explore further on dry land on your own time

Homomonument (Pass By) In about one hour, we cruise through the unique Unesco Heritage listed Golden Age canals of Amsterdam. We cruise into the Jordaan, a neighbourhood known for its famous Prinsengracht towards the most romantic Magere Brug (English: Skinny Bridge – we will work on your Dutch pronunciation later), the Amstel river, the 7 bridges, the impressive Golden Bend, and then past the nine streets back to the Anne Frank House.

Anne Frank House (Pass By) Annelies Marie Frank was a Jewish girl from Germany who became known for the diary she wrote during the Second World War when she was in hiding in Amsterdam. She died of exhaustion and / or typhus fever in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp

The Jordaan (Pass By) The most common theory on the origin of the name is as a derivation of the French word Jardin, meaning garden: most streets and canals in the Jordaan are named after trees and flowers. Another theory is that the Prinsengracht canal was once nicknamed Jordaan (the Dutch name for the river Jordan) and that the neighborhood beyond the canal came to be called this as well. Our Flagship canal tour will start and end here in the Jordaan.

Bloemgracht (Pass By) The canal, as part of the Jordaan, was constructed in the first half of the 17th century during one of Amsterdam's major urban expansions; the so-called Third Explanation. Initially, dyers were located on and near the Bloemgracht.

Westerkerk (Pass By) The Westerkerk (English: Western Church) is a Reformed church within the Dutch Protestant church in central Amsterdam, Netherlands. It lies in the most western part of the Grachtengordel neighborhood (Centrum borough), next to the Jordaan, between the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht.

Statue of Anne Frank (Pass By) Anne Frank is one of Amsterdam’s best-known historical figures. Anne and her family lived in hiding from the Nazis for more than two years in a house on the Prinsengracht. Anne was eventually deported to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945, where she later died at the young age of 15. Today, Anne’s spirit lives on through her diary and the huge numbers of visitors who come to Amsterdam every year to learn more about her short life.

Leiden Square (Leidseplein) (Pass By) The Leidseplein is a square in central Amsterdam, Netherlands. Lying in the Weteringschans neighborhood (Centrum borough), the Leidseplein is immediately northeast of the Singelgracht canal. It is situated on the crossroads of the Weteringschans, the Marnixstraat, and the Leidsestraat. The Leidseplein is one of the busiest centers for nightlife in the city. Historically, the square was the end of the road from Leiden and served as a parking lot for horse-drawn traffic. Today, modern traffic travels through the square and side streets are packed with restaurants and nightclubs. The Stadsschouwburg, a theater, is the most notable architectural landmark on the square, and the American Hotel is close by. Our boats will pass the Leidseplein on the Prinsengracht.

Rijksmuseum (Pass By) The Rijksmuseum was founded in The Hague in 1800 and moved to Amsterdam in 1808, where it was first located in the Royal Palace and later in the Trippenhuis. The current main building was designed by Pierre Cuypers and first opened in 1885.On 13 April 2013, after a ten-year renovation which cost € 375 million, the main building was reopened by Queen Beatrix. Amstelveld (Pass By) Amstelveld is a square in the center of Amsterdam, between Reguliersgracht, Prinsengracht, and Kerkstraat, close to Utrechtsestraat. The Amstelkerk, a predominantly wooden building, stands on the square. The characteristic plantation consists of 46 Caucasian wingnut trees

Spiegelkwartier (Pass By) The imposing Rijksmuseum can be seen from the Spiegelgracht. This canal connects the Prinsengracht with the Lijnbaansgracht and runs into the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat. The Spiegelgracht is part of the Spiegelkwartier which is characterized by its many galleries and antique shops. As an art lover, you can walk from the Museumplein along the Spiegelgracht where you can continue to enjoy the most special paintings, antiques, and art (objects).

De Duif (Pass By) The present church owes its name to a predecessor, the 17th-century hiding church 'Het Vrededuifje' that once stood on the Kerkstraat. The first stone for the current Duifkerk, designed by Leiden architect Th. Molkenboer was laid in April 1857. Due to a lack of money, the church became increasingly decayed in the course of the 20th century. For more than twenty-five years the building has been packed because the monumental façade had become detached. This danger has since disappeared. De Duif reopened in 2002 after an intensive restoration. During that restoration, the original murals were reappeared under layers of wall paint.

Magere Brug (Pass By) One of Amsterdam’s many bridges is the beautiful Magere Brug, known to English speakers at the Skinny Bridge. This wooden drawbridge was once so narrow that it was hard for two pedestrians to pass each other. To cope with increasing traffic on the Amstel, a wider bridge replaced the narrow original in 1871.
